A few things to know.
Will it work on my MacBook?
The app requires macOS 14 or newer. The live effect needs an accessible lid angle sensor and the built-in display. Sensor support varies by model; OpenLid checks yours and tells you if it’s unavailable. The manual preview is still usable.
Why does it need Screen Recording permission?
To render the desktop as it folds, OpenLid needs the pixels from your display. Frames remain in memory on your Mac and are never saved or uploaded. You enable permission in System Settings.
Can I pause it?
Yes. Pause from the menu-bar icon. OpenLid starts paused and is designed to pause on sleep, screen lock, or errors. This alpha also has a 15-second continuous-fold safety timeout.
